A new management philosophy is outlined in a recent book: Become Truly Great: Serve the common good through Management by Positive Organizational Effectiveness (2017). The book contains a synthesis of theory on organizational effectiveness, claiming that the goal of every organization is the same (business, government and nonprofit). If that is the case, we don't need high powered executives to derive new goals for every organization. It simplifies management enormously. Front-line workers at the periphery are empowered to ask every day "how do we serve our environment better today?" and innovate to make it happen.
