The days of management are over. The new generation has outgrown the concept of being managed.
Organizations could take a few leaves out of we deal with social relationships and adopt them within the context of organizations: a) Parent-Child relationship for the purpose of nurturing and development, b) Teacher-Student relationship for the purpose of learning and skill building, c) Network of Friends for the purpose of support systems.
Switching from managing to enabling requires asking yourself a few questions - "How would I deal with it if....it was my own child?" or "....if I was a teacher/friend?"
I think you have some powerful raw ideas in this hack that the community should be able to build upon. Personally, I share your sentiments. For example, I like to say "If all management is risk management, then all leadership is trust enablement."
I also like your parent-child analogy, as I ascribe a paternal archetype to the board of directors in my contribution to a new Wiley finance textbook on corporate governance (see http://trustenablement.com/index.htm#book).
I think the "switch" also requires a paradigm shift from control to empowerment, which requires trust. Many parents miss this distinction.
