If everything went as per plan, one wouldnt need managers & CEOs right ? A CEO gets paid to make sure he handles exceptions to plan..

And of course, planning does not imply a blind following of a spreadsheet/ powerpoint, it is the recognizing the uncertainities and working on mitigating them..
