Some kids dream of curing cancer or going to the moon, but my ambitions have long focused on energy and innovation. I fell in love with the subject of energy in my youth. I pursued a technology career because I saw it as the biggest lever to change the energy game. Although a long-time practitioner of energy technology, I somewhat stumbled into the business of energy innovation more than 10 yrs ago. I quickly realized that the limiting factors weren’t the laws of physics, or even human ingenuity itself, but the mindsets and processes that constrained it. Thus my passion has become unleashing the innovation capacity in others to solve what I believe remains one of the world's greatest challenges - affordable, abundant and clean energy.
I love big ideas and new bits of knowledge. I read voraciously and broadly. I equally enjoy learning about practical wisdom from the past, and glimpses of the future from the frontiers of the present. Although the pace of change raises anxiety in some, I feel fortunate to be alive in these exciting times. The more I learn, the more I learn there is still to learn. To borrow a phrase from Oliver Twist, “More, please.”
I don't believe in unsolvable problems, just problems that haven't been solved. The best way to get me to do something is to tell me it can't be done.
