Excenomics an alternative to Capitalism , Socialism, Communism, Economics and Management
The writing on Wall Street shows that Excenomics is the answer to the world's as well as individual's ills at the social, intellectual, spiritual, emotional and pyschological planes. Challenge your own status quo and keep at it, till you move to the next level of excellence. Excellence relies on proactive collaboration between people and competition with oneself. Capitalistic competition produces greed,elitism, inequity, war, hunger, oppression, exploitation, exclusion. It is a wasteful model even as the communist and socialist model is oppressive, non motivational, non productive and tyrannical.
“In the long-run, we are all dead. Economists set themselves too easy and too useless a task if in tempestuous seasons they can only predict that when the storm is long past and the ocean is flat again” - John Maynard Keynes
J. M. Keynes made the above statement in the context of his own days when the science of economics tried to explain most of its concepts in terms of the long-run effects of observed economic phenomena and thus failed to predict the important fluctuations that took place in the short-term. In essence, this view holds good even in today’s context when we see that economics has not been able to pin point and alert on the short term phenomena that lead to major economic crises such as the global melt down. When Queen Elizabeth II visited the London School of Economics, one of my alma maters, she asked the head of the department of Economics " Why is it that you economists were not able to predict the current global meltdown?" He replied that it was the collective failure of many bright minds. I would say it was more than that it was the wilful failure of many bright minds who knew that it was coming and took their bonuses and benefits and abandoned the sinking ship. It is because of the simple fact that there is a palpable erosion in the level of commitment or passion in achieving personal and professional excellence in the diverse fields of human activities now-a-days. If the passion is there in the professionals, then they would be able to see the dangers present or potential very clearly and alert the powers that be for immediate action to address/prevent them. So, the need of the hour is to inculcate this passion in to the lives of people in whatever they do and whenever they do. This applies not only to economics professionals but also to other professionals such as those in management, administration, engineering, medicine, education, research and whatever. What is now sought to be achieved is a marriage between excellence and economics – that is, Excenomics.
Failure of modern education.
Modern day education has failed to integrate composite ethics and multiple quotients and has therefore failed to have a transforming effect on individuals. organisations, business and nations. It has created a large number of individuals with knowledge but little or no wisdom leading to recurring scams, exploitation, excessive greed and so on. Even the modern techniques of self growth and personal development like Positive Thinking, NLP,autosuggestion etc have failed to achieve this intersection of ethics and quotients. It is time to lead the world from a knowledge economy to a wisdom economy. The current ongoing recession is a reflection of the failure of Economics and Management and we must begin to read the writing on the wall instead of clutching onto the straws of modern civilisation. There is need for re-engineering at the civilisational level
Excenomics is a new global discipline which seeks to integrate economics, management sciences and education in to a harmonic, dynamic and workable model of human development. It seeks to learn from the failures of other models in helping the holistic development of individual excellence vis-à-vis the development of human societies. It is not a new conundrum to obfuscate people’s understanding of the process of human development but a perspicuous harmonizer of individual human effort to achieve excellence as the binding element of the development process.
Even though the term ‘excenomics’ connotes excellence and economics, in effect it lays much in store on sustained individual excellence in all human efforts. It has more to do with attitudinal aspects of such efforts rather than their quantum aspects. It is a discipline that promotes interdisciplinary creativity and innovation connecting all possible known domains of knowledge and endeavour. In other words, the essential principle of excenomics is that if individual excellence is strived for in all actions, its impact would be palpable in societal striving for excellence. Such a state would provide the panacea for all the ills witnessed today on the different fronts of human existence- social, economic, intellectual, spiritual, emotional and psychological.
Excenomics is not only an alternative economic model but also an alternative education model. It would aim at an education system that imparts life skills to students such that they could better cope with the challenges of life. Such life skills would again be based upon excellence in performance. By logic, this would mean that the teaching system should also strive for excellence in what it seeks to achieve. An important implication of this is that that if all of humanity are taught to pursue excellence in the altered paradigm of priorities, namely, attitudes, skills and knowledge (ASK), automatically, the nomics or numbers or quantitative results in terms of production, productivity, profitability and income would automatically rise to their highest level. So would human values. Would that not make the world a better place to live in? It sure would.
One would like to start at the very foundation, that is, start with pre-primary and primary education levels and traverse through middle, higher secondary and further levels of higher education, including professional, technical and other fields of higher learning. Evidently this would call for efforts to build capacity in the teachers at the different levels that would enable them to achieve excellence in what they seek to impart to their wards. Right now, excellence in teaching is largely confined to high-end schools and colleges, which can be accessed only by the rich and influential people. Most of rural schools and urban schools for the poorer populations are not in a position to recruit, train, motivate and retain teachers of such excellence on their rolls. The results are obvious.
This is one of the first attempts in management theory where individual theory and organizational theory are integrated in the same conceptual framework. Every organization, commercial, political or cultural as well as every human person has three indestructible elements: Image, Performance, and Substance. Image is what one is, Performance is what one does and Substance is what one has. If one improves what one is (Values, beliefs, principles Skills, and excellence), he/she improves what he/she does (competencies) and consequently what he/she has resources like finances, network and opportunities. Hence, Excenomics as a new global discipline pinpoints that the strategic long term focus on excellence will be most effective in producing sustainable tangible and intangible results.
EXCENOMICS in addition to proposing an alternative economic model also propounds an alternative model of education
Modern education is based on the paradigm of “learn a lot, use a little”. The altered paradigm is “learn a little, use a lot” which reflects much sense. When a child learns that a triangle has three sides, she should be taught that life is a triangle having three sides, thephysical, the intellectual and the spiritual. Instead, she is taught the different types of triangles without learning about how it relates to life.
Excenomics is based on the principle of Knowledge in Application (KiA). How does one use what he/she learns in order to advance his/her life and that of others around him/her-this is the thrust of Excenomics. The study of Excenomics would also lead to an enhanced rate of creativity, productivity, and economic development.
The Process of excellence:Yearning-Learning-Earning Curve
There s a close correspondence between yearning, learning and earning. Yearning means one has to be passionate about his/her pursuits. He should be passionate about excelling and giving it his best. When the passion is complete, he would learn the right things in due time and automatically, generate the earnings commensurate with such yearning and learning. Eqthinking requires a person to be passionate about excellence. Excellence should become a full time obsession. Yearning is about attitude, about life goals, priorities and desires. Learning is the life-long process of developing the skill set required to achieve those goals. Earning is not just the financial indicators of success but the satisfaction, contribution and reputation attained. To straight away aim at profits or income is to shortcircuit the process of human growth and excellence

In other words, excenomics seeks a fusion of the different disciplines in order to ensure human growth and development with equity. Excenomics emphasizes and focusses on Human Capital formation as the source of value creation and well being. Human development and investments in education and training should be given as much if not more importance than the primacy attached to capital hitherto for the success of any human enterprise. The process of excellence is broken into these steps: YEARNING FOR EXCELLENCE leads to Learning which in turn leads to earning. As such an even higher rate of economic advance for the individual, companies, societies and nations will be attained if this process is replicated universally than the current obsession with the profits or bottomline. It is in brief based on a counter-intuitive logic. Excellence is a process in which individuals, groups, institutions and nations keep challenging the status quo to arrive at newer and more stable equilibrium.
The very passion to achieve excellence produces tremendous energy and the latter powers the movement towards its successful accomplishment. It is a new concept, a huge concept and an over-arching concept. Since it transcends all sectors and all stages of human life and activities, it has been dubbed as above. It starts with early childhood and goes on until the end of one’s life.
It really starts with early childhood stimuli and accelerates as the process of education graduates from one stage to another. It is a process of continuing education, continuing activity and continuing interaction; all aiming at excellence.
Excenomics aims at an educational system that imparts life skills to students such that they could better cope with the challenges of life. These life skills would be based upon excellence in performance. This means that the teaching system should also strive for excellence. It implies that if all of humanity is taught to pursue excellence in terms of attitude, skill and knowledge then automatically there would be a rise to the highest level in terms of production & productivity, profitability and income as much as human values. When human values are ensured then social justice is automatically ensured!
In short, where traditional economics fails, excenomics can succeed! As Alan Greenspan, the head of the US Federal Reserve said when asked how to prevent recurring recession, “ It will continue to happen due to the fuelling of human greed unless someone finds a way to change human nature.”
Implementation of the Concept:
Self-Growth towards excellence really should start at the school level with focus on achieving excellence in a holistic sense.
It would be ideal to start at the very foundation of education such as the pre-primary and primary education levels and continue until higher education including professional, technical and other fields of higher learning. This would necessitate an effort to build capacity in teachers to enable them to achieve excellence in what they teach their wards. If the teaching system imbues in its teachers such a passion then it would be possible to achieve excellence in teaching.
The synergy of excellence is really great! The personal achievement of the frontrunners in any domain is great and it is sure to inspire others who admire such a person. Such synergy cuts across professions. Watching a star performance of the top performers in any field, the watchers are sure to be inspired to repeat the same in their own professions. The multiplier effect of excellence is indeed geometrical.
Similarly, corporate excellence can stimulate others into striving for achieving quality. Such a process would best be served if only there are quality standards for each profession or calling, against which such striving could be measured and prompted.
Design excellence is another such dimension of excellence. The passion in the designer brings new things in her/him. Design excellence will inspire people to attempt marrying science and art.
In fact, it would be ideal to put in place a system of certifying excellence in every field of human action.

(Understanding Prateep Philip*s Excenomics)
Excenomics (new discipline that focuses on studying excellence in all its dimensions) propounded by Prateep V. Philip would be an excellent idea provided it keeps cognizance of the cause of excellence.
Like human excellence, its cause too ought to be starkly *human*. It is to be found in a special kind of grassroots citizens at which the populace is intellectually polarized. We call these special type of citizens *civil peaks* and portray their social incidence through the *net model*.
In this model, the society is represented as a fisherman*s net in which the threads depict the lay citizenry and the knots depict the aforesaid grassroots extraordinary citizenry. The intellectual polarity ascribed to the latter class is related to their inherence of *natural intellect*.
Natural intellect is characterized by concommitance of a sense for general welfare, immutable dignity and other high feelings. This isn*t really a product of informatics which has been conventionally popularized as *education*. The original source of excellence is this grassroots natural intellect.
Thus excenomics ought to be centered around identification, organization and empowerment of these grasssroots civil peaks who would collectively constitute *national sovereignty*.

Its really a good Idea of bringing excellence from the ROOT level to achieve the EXCENOMICS but we really need to look into the ways of implementation of this ideas in Schools and Educational Institutions, where the rural system is not even at normal level and worst than it is expected when compared to urban sector, still we need to seek a way towards bringing up the setback rural sector to meet and understand this concept, and moreover as Prateep mentioned the capacity building at various level should strive hard, and especially the Teachers who seeds the knowledge about excellence and economics in the mind of Childred/Students, should really focus on What & How they can support better to achieve and to see this happening action in long run.

Society is nothing but group of people. Good practices and habits should be followed from one-to-one. When we go to a place where everything is organised and perfect we will be pleased and will fix in mind that we need to follow this in our routine, but the next day we forget that we visited such a place. Its happening with most of us.
But when we go to a store or see something somewhere like dress or decorative item or car such a kind.... We never do forget till we get it. The time when I change this attitude and start bringing the difference from ME n then my family will follow me .If every ME is perfect then I am sure about the society.

This new discipline deserves a very serious and sincere attention from all universities across the globe for proper academic incorporation and recognition. Some of the concepts like learn a little and apply more in real life-the triangular concept in life, yearning ,learning and yearning, and equilibrium thinking do make tremendous sense in real life. This is an excellent idea. Many of us practice,preach, teach and train in excenomics lines. But this is the first occasion when an interdisciplinary learning concept under a single umbrella has come up on practical lines. Interested in updates on progress of implementation.
