Me in Three
- A wise woman once told me that my purpose in the world was, "to be a wise, compassionate, and righteous leader that has the strength and ability to make changes that do good for everyone." While it sounds grandiose, I think it's the same type of sentiment that calls people here to the MIX.
- I love fly-fishing. Casting a fly into the rills and runs of a rushing Northwest stream is both deeply calming and exhilarating-- the soothing sound and feel of the water; the scent of the firs, the rhythmic action of line and rod-- then BAM, a rainbow or brown flashing silver and red as it tries to race away. Fly-fishing, more than any other thing, is what makes me forget about everything else, where I am so in the moment that nothing else matters. It's where I truly experience flow.
- I live in the Portland Metro area (Left Coast) with my wife, children, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ("Hey! Isn't that one of those Prince William Spaniels or something?) And while I love it here, there are certainly times during the long gray months when I start to think about what kind of work I could actually make a living at in the sunny South of France.
