I try to constructively challenge the status quo to achieve "real" change in organizations, and sometimes fail. With a background in IT and collaboration, I am passionate about making technology usable to make people's jobs easier, help people get back time in their day and changing the way companies "do" business. I do this through communication, education, collaboration and coaching by leading conversations to productive outcomes throughout an organization. I instigate good conversation by asking intelligent questions with a strong opinion and use the debate to either solidify or change my view.
I am in life like I am in work, I like to have fun, every single day. I try to be witty (although my friends may disagree) and love wordplay as a way to have interesting conversations. As if to indicate my need to have fun, I wear fun socks as a way to express my inner rebel.
I try to lead transparently and courageously. I believe that you cannot be a leader if nobody is following you and quite honestly am quite tired of the people that manage up in an organization and build their careers on a house of cards. I now realize that control is an illusion and influence is king. When I fail at influence, it's not that people are "stupid", but that I generally don't have a full view of the situation.
