Today, it is understandable that business and technology are indistinguishably linked, and with the intention of remain competitive, companies must be able to develop both their goals and their computational knowledge as well, no matter how hard the process is. Of course, this type of change cannot be started with a blank picture, the development of information services should be guided by an understanding of the company’s management processes and practices. By lacking it, the process of IT service management will inevitably mean a waste of time, and money and will offer competitors the opportunity to attract customers with a more efficient offer.
What Exactly Is ITIL?
The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a well-known collection of best practices for creating and improving the process of IT service management. It aims to help the companies to manage risk, support the customer relationships, implement cost-effective practices, and create a continuous IT environment that supports growth, scale, and change as well. To sum up, ITIL is an expert in the continuous development of IT services development progression. ITIL’s main strength is its versatility, and the methods are scalable and flexible, allowing organizations to take in as much as they can. However, ITIL can be adapted to work with other practices, including C.O.B.I.T, Six-Sigma and T.O.G.A.F. Though, it is important to note that ITIL is not based on a specific business model, instead, it relies on the combined experience of professionals. It has been applied in many industries, mainly because almost all industries depend in one form or another on computer science.
The IT Infrastructure Library provides best practices in delivering information technology services with a systematic approach to managing IT services. ITIL-4, released by Axelos earlier this year, has been updated to focus more on maintaining the service management of IT agility, flexibility, and innovation while assisting legacy systems and structures. ITIL-4 is changing the ITIL foundation certification system, and the ITIL-3 certificates will remain valid and the level of ITIL-4 certificates will be established in 2019. However, the experts who start or work on major ITIL-3 certifications are encouraged to pursue ITIL-4 and continue ITIL-3 projects until the next Level-4 ITIL Certificates are available this year. ITIL foundation certification is divided into several categories and entities, from service methods to continuous training, enabling practitioners not only to adapt to the evolution of information technology services but also to prepare for future changes. This can help increase the company's sustainable productivity and create a better and more stable customer experience.
ITIL-3 Certification Levels
Although Axelos has announced and issued new ITIL-4 certifications, on the other side ITIL v-3 certifications will continue to be relevant and available to experts next year too. Thus, the final phase of the ITIL-4 certification program is not ready to launch before 2020. Therefore, if you are on your way to ITIL v-3 certification, it is worth continuing with these courses as they lead to the ITIL-4 certification scheme accordingly. Though, the eligibility system for ITIL v-3 uses a modular credit system called the ITIL System of Credit. However, specific ITLs are assigned to all ITIL and related capabilities in the Credit System respectively. When applying for these modules, the applicant is eligible for advanced certification, and lastly, there are 22 credits for ITIL foundation certification. In addition, there is a specific set for eligibility requirements for ITIL-Master; and applicants must be certified as an ITIL Specialist before being assigned an ITIL position.
ITIL-4 Certification Paths
The ITIL-4 certification system is similar to the ITIL-3 certification system, but it is simplified so that there are two main routes of seven segments between them both, and you need to move from entry-level to professional management (P-M) or strategic manager (S-M). However, one can take any course, or, if choose to take both courses, so one will receive the chief accreditation of ITIL foundation certification. Thus the foundation level is designed as an introduction to ITIL module-4 and allows you to explore information technology service board through a comprehensive business model in order to create, deliver and continuously improve expertise and service-based technology.
How do I transition from ITIL v3 to ITIL 4?
Have you endowed in certification through one or more ITIL v-3 vendors and are you looking for the best way to upgrade to ITIL-4? To enroll for the professional management ITIL-4 training course which is designed for ITIL v-3 candidates or 17-credits holders on a v-3 system. Though, the transition course covers the main aspects of the ITIL foundation certification, which includes mandatory training and testing that, will allow the candidates to move from their current obligation to the new ITIL certification system-4. Thus upon completion of this module, the applicant will provide the designation for ITIL administrators. Although the major ITIL-4 certification has already been introduced, it is expected that the advanced units and settings will not be on sale until the end of 2019; thus the ITIL Master is expected to be launched in 2020 respectively.
On the other hand, ITIL-4 is compatible with ITIL-3 too. If you are currently working on a v-3 certificate, Axelos recommends continuing along this path for the sake of ITIL foundation certification. However, courses contained within the ITIL-3 certification system are rated by their ITIL content level, so the value will remain constant for the training of ITIL foundation certification. Though, if you are supposed to be in the midst of a v-3 certification or still have ITIL specialist training courses, take the right path, and do not wait for ITIL-4 certification to begin. Individuals with 17-units, or candidates with ITIL-3 certification, will receive the ITIL transition module 4. Nevertheless, the purpose of this module is to allow applicants to familiarize themselves with the rapid changes in the new version-4 of the ITIL transition module and to allow you to receive an updated designation from ITIL Professional Management.
