A commission-based salesforce may seem like one of the immutable laws of the universe. Not so, argues Daniel Pink in his new column for The Telegraph in the UK. A few companies are daring to think outside the box when it comes to how to pay their professional tech salesforces. Both Cambridge, U.K.-based Red Gate Software and Baltimore, Md.-based System Source have eliminated commissions in favor of healthy salaries. The result: higher sales, longer tenure, and improved teamwork.
